Your first appointment
1. Health Screening Questionnaire
You will have been sent an online health screening questionnaire. This is important your safety and wellbeing. This will identify any medical reason why either massage or certain movements might be harmful, or where some caution and consideration is needed.
2. Park up
You can usually park right outside the property. I don’t have a waiting room so please wait until your appointment time and knock on the door.
3. Discuss your needs
If you’ve booked a massage we’ll have a quick chat about any particular areas you think need attention and whether you prefer light or stronger massage. Some do like more pressure and experience a ‘satisfying ache’, which is catered for, however, I am not in the business of giving painful massages - this is clinically indefensible and unethical.
I work with people who are managing stress, anxiety, depression, or looking to prevent burnout. For those I provide a safe an confidential space where you can say as much or as little as you feel. Soothing massage and the sense of reconnecting with our bodies provides a vital break from these conditions.
Shorts or underwear are fine. Your dignity is protected at all times.
If you have an injury or persisting pain we will need to have a good chat about the whole story.
This will be followed by a comprehensive assessment and we can agree a realistic treatment plan to suit you and fit your lifestyle. This can be combinations of massage therapy, exercise planning, pain management strategies, and advice.
Treatment is usually included in the first session.
