How I help
Getting stuck in cycles
When we’ve had pain for a while, we can easily become afraid to do certain movements or do certain jobs. This is a normal reaction - we got hurt and don’t want it to happen again.
After a while, this habit can become normal. We limit what we do, how much we lift, places we go, things we enjoy. We can find that when we go to do some things our whole body tenses up as though we’re bracing for pain - even rolling over in bed.
Now we have a tension problem too.
Getting out of cycles
What CAN you do?
A good place to start. Working together we can gradually explore movements, safely with support. As you move, your nervous system will start to get comfy and pain can start to dial down. We can break the cycle, we can expand your movement repertoire.
We can use massage, stretches, movements, pick up heavy things, dance - whatever. We work together to agree realistic goals because it’s really important it all makes sense to you, and is enjoyable.
Calm things down
build things back up
It’s a very simple principle.
Calm down the body with safe movements, reassurance, massage and all the things you can do that feel good.
Build the body’s resilience up so you know you can withstand a little more in the future.
